Hartenberg Wine Estate

Hartenberg is appreciated for its rich heritage and exquisite wines. Hartenberg is a family vineyard that boasts a history dating back to 1692. Hartenberg is situated in the scenic valley on the Bottelary Hills in Stellenbosch. The location of the estate favours wine enthusiasts and nature lovers too.

This region has a Mediterranean climate (warm and dry summers followed by cold and wet winters). This climate assists with creating exceptional wines and as a result, Hartenberg are well known for its Shiraz and Chardonnay.

Regenerative agriculture is the cornerstone of this estate. This approach harmonises with nature to enhance land productivity and biodiversity. Some of these practices include the restoration of soil health and fertility, an increase in soil organic matter and the closure of the carbon cycle. Hartenberg has its own thriving ecosystem, which has over 75 recorded bird species, duikers, steenbok and mongooses. The estate also has Cape Long ear goats, sheep and Ankole, dexter and Nguni cattle.

As guests descend on Hartenberg, guests will have a range of activities to take part in which include: wine tasting, cellar tours and having lunch at the restaurant on the farm.

It is advised to make a booking at least 48 hours in advance for Cape Town helicopters to obtain landing permissions.

This Helicopter Wine Safari includes a private helicopter flight to and from Hartenberg Wine estate and the half-day experience includes wine tasting and lunch.

The flight from the V&A Waterfront to Hartenberg (Approx 20 mins), the flight from Hartenberg back to the V&A Waterfront (Approx 20 mins). Time spent on the ground is between 2-3 hours at the estate. The total Helicopter Wine Safari experience is Approximately 3-4 hours in total. Cape Town Helicopters reserves the right to return the helicopter to base if operationally required.

Important Information


Check In Time

Please check in 20-30 minutes prior to your scheduled Take Off time. This will allow enough time for us to take weights, conduct a safety briefing and issue tickets. After this has been conducted you can relax on the viewing deck and take some great pre-flight pictures and enjoy the atmosphere.

Best Pictures

For the best pictures we recommend that you wear darker coloured clothing as whites reflect off the inside of the windows and can spoil that epic shot.

Seating

Please be aware that seating allocation on all our sharing flights are done according to weight and balance which is done during your safety briefing and ticketing. Should you want to choose your own seats you can book an Exclusive Flight at the cost of one additional seat and you are guaranteed the ‘best seats in the house.

Weather

All flights are weather dependent. Should the conditions not be ideal for flying we will try to reschedule to the next best available flight window. Note that the temperature in the sky is exactly the same as on the ground in case you are wondering what to wear.
