Klein Goederust Wine Estate

This wine estate is the epitome of South African history and is situated in the Franschhoek Valley. Klein Goederust Wine Estate is the first and only 100% black-owned wine estate in the Franschhoek Valley.

Mr Paul Siguqa (son of a former Cape Winelands farm worker Nomaroma Siguqa) bought Klein Goederust in 2019. This 10 hectare farm is steeped in history. Paul kept the original name of the farm (dating back to 1905) and integrated his isiXhosa identity by incorporating the Southern Ground Hornbill, the clan/family crest totem into the logo. Paul ensured that the farm went through a meticulous restoration while preserving the timeless charm but also introducing contemporary, minimalist design elements.

Klein Goederust has a historic cellar which was also constructed in 1905 which showcases an array of wines and includes the Nomaroma MCC - named after Nomaroma Siguqa the Siguqa matriarch. The wine collection is inspired with authenticity and deep historical roots. The wine-tasting room 117 years old and dates back to the “dop system” serving as a reminder of the hardships endured by their ancestors.

The restaurant at Klein Goederust presents a buffet-style dining experience featuring authentic South African cuisine. Part of the menu includes spit-roasted lamb, curried and pickled fish, freshly baked farmhouse bread, potjiekos, roosterkoek and malva pudding which are all authentic, traditional South African dishes.

Part of the Helicopter Wine Safari experience includes wine tasting and enjoying an authentic and traditional South African meal at the restaurant.

Reservations for this once-in-a-lifetime authentic South African experience require a minimum lead time of 48 hours to secure landing permissions at Klein Goederust at the premises.

The Helicopter Wine Safari includes a private helicopter journey to and from Klein Goederust with a half-day experience at the estate which encourages guests to do a wine tasting and lunch.

The helicopter flight time from the V & A Waterfront to Klein Goederust is approximately 30 minutes, from Klein Goederust back to the V & A Waterfront is approximately 30 minutes. Time on the ground at Klein Goederust is approximately 2-3 hours. The total experience is between 3-4 hours.

Important Information

Check In Time

Please check in 30 minutes before your scheduled takeoff time. This allows us to complete weight checks, conduct the safety briefing, and issue your tickets. Once checked in, you can relax in our waiting area, capture some great pre-flight photos, and soak in the atmosphere before your adventure begins.

Photography Tip

For the best photos, we recommend wearing darker-colored clothing. Light colours, especially white, can reflect off the windows and affect your shots—so dress dark for that perfect picture! We do not have an on-site photographer.

Seating

For all sharing flights, seating is assigned based on weight and balance, which is determined during your safety briefing and ticketing. If you prefer to choose your own seats, you may book an Exclusive Flight by purchasing one additional seat—guaranteeing you the best seats in the house.

Weather

All flights are weather-dependent. If conditions are not suitable for flying, we will make every effort to reschedule your flight to the next best available time. For your comfort, please note that the temperature in the sky is the same as on the ground, so dress accordingly.
